Sorry late on my update this week. The Phils have been my priority this week. Dennis Northcutt didn’t work out too well. I hope most of you yanked him out of your lineup when rotoworld said Calvin Johnson was playing. I did so he didnt hurt me this week. I went with Andre Caldwell who had a good week with 15 points in PPR. He didn’t have a TD but had some kickoff return yardage plus 6 catches for 57 yards. Caldwell has a tougher matchup this week against CHI who 10th against the pass. I’m on the fence with playing Caldwell this week. I’m leaning towards the NYG passing attack against ARI.

This is a crucial time for me in fantasy. Of my 5 teams two are 2-4, two are 3-3, and one is 1-4-1. I need wins in particular in my 2-4 teams for the playoff push. I have gone back to the tried and true method of playing week to week. There is no tomorrow. I traded Colston and Sims-Walker for Kevin Smith and Steve Smith. Walker is on a bye so I couldn’t wait for him. Kevin Smith is also on a bye but I have depth at RB on this team so I can wait for him. I also traded Fred Jackson and Lynch for Manningham. Both trades might be considered an edge for the other player. But my back is up against the wall. So let’s hope the Giants have a HUGE offensive output this week against ARI who is 18th against the pass. I am starting Steve Smith CAR, Mario Manningham, and Ahmad Bradshaw. It’s ironic that this fantasy team’s fate comes down to three players on a team that I despise since I’m an die-hard Eagles fan. But in FF there are strange bed fellows. I NEED this win to stay alive. So I am obviously recommending all Giants receivers this week including Hakeem Nicks. If you have Giants receivers this is the week to play them. Going back to my trade I wanted Kevin Smith because he has an incredibily soft schedule down the stretch. If I pull off the win this week I then have a #1 RB down the stretch with a favorable schedule. Of course I do have some pessimism because if DET doesn’t have a QB to throw the ball then the running game will suffer because the opponent will put 8 in the box.

So just to update the world on the horrific trade that went down in my keeper league Cedric Benson put up a measly 12 pts while Jones-Drew put up 38 pts. Obviously the man who traded Benson is a moron. I will update their pts the rest of the year because I have been so enraged by this trade. This week Benson will score more because Jones-Drew is on bye. The commissioner in this league did penalize the genius who traded Jones-Drew for peanuts. He can’t trade with that player again (big deal) and he now has a partner so he won’t do that again. Well, the problem is solved for the future but it doesn’t fix the fact that one team has an incredible advantage in this keeper league. One could argue this advantage is so great that the recipient of Jones-Drew has already won the league under “murky” circumstances. To be a prick I picked up both backups. Bernard Scott is a rookie RB who is backing up Cedric Benson. In many fantasy circles he is seen as a player of the  future in keeper leagues. So Scott is worth a roster spot. The CIN coaching staff actually came out this week and said Scott is going to get more reps.  Jones-Drew is carrying and catching the ball at an incredible clip. There is a chance he could get hurt before the year is out. His backup is Rashard Jennings. He isn’t worth picking up unless you are as vindictive as I am. I hope Jones-Drew and Benson get hurt and the owner comes crawling to me for help.  Hopefully before the trading deadline so I can really stick it to them.

Does anyone know what is going on with Anthony Gonzalez? I have held him in one league hoping that he will be back by the playoff push. I am hearing nothing out of Indy which means only one thing. He won’t be ready for week 7. That is good news if you are an owner of Garcon and Collie. You will be able to start them again this week with confidence because they are playing STL.

I’ll have more help by Saturday for those that need it. If you have any matchup questions just post or email The Fantasy Flukie!

If you need more of a fantasy fix hop over to football.razzball.com he has some good sleeper plays for the week.
